The Great Wall of Jimmer

Apologies, Post-Jimmerers. As you have undoubtedly noticed, the blog hasn't been active since before the WCC tournament. Part of that had to do with me growing increasingly despondent over what I was seeing on the court, and part of it had to be with me just being too lazy to stay up late writing recaps after games ended at 1:00 AM here in the Eastern time zone. In any case, it is what it is.

That being said, this is too good to not share: Somebody has apparently created Jimmer graffiti.

Yep. That happened.

This unusual guerrilla artwork/vandalism (depending on one's perspective) is apparently affixed to the side of a vacant store on the corner of 200 North and 400 East in Provo. I have no idea what language the text is even written in, much less what it actually means. But the picture is definitely Jimmer, and Jimmer is definitely awesome — despite what the current NBA season may or may not say.

So, there you go. Jimmer on the side of a vacant building in Provo with some vaguely Asian-looking text. Didn't see that one coming.

For a more intelligent discussion of the merits and significance of this Jimmer street art, head over to Jim Dalrymple's excellent blog, (pro(vo)cation), which provided the inspiration (and photograph) for this post. He'll make you feel smarter.

UPDATE #1: The writing is apparently in Japanese, according to one reader. I will update again if I find out what it actually says...

UPDATE #2: According to another reader, the translation of the Japanese text in the above photo is as follows:

presenting big Jimner [sic]
This hero is #1
Big in Japan

I was unware that Jimmer  — or his alter-ego Jimner — was so popular in Japan. Either way, I still think this is awesome. More of this, please. (Maybe some Jabari Parker street art? Does that count as an NCAA recruiting violation?)
